The Three Must-Have Boating Skills

3 boating skills

What are three of the most common skills any boater will need to know this summer? “Docking is often seen as a spectator sport, but everyone needs to know how to do it safely,” said BoatUS Magazine Executive Editor Mike Vatalaro. “Beaching your boat is also a common maneuver, as is using your boat’s trim tabs to get the best ride, so we’ve done three short videos that address each.” The videos are part of the magazine’s Practical Boater series that offers skills building, techniques and best practices to get the most out of boating.

The videos can be found at:

1. Trim Tab Basics: BoatUS.com/trimtabbasics.

2. How To Beach Your Boat And Leave Again: BoatUS.com/howtobeach.

3. Four Steps For Coming Alongside A Dock: BoatUS.com/docking.

More Practical Boater tips, from how to remove fishing line entangled around a prop to a pre-launch checklist, can be found in the most recent issue of BoatUS Magazine at BoatUS.com/practicalboaterapril15.
