What Essentials You Need To Bring On Your Next Fishing Trip

Do you have a big important fishing trip coming up? Maybe you are hitting the lake with some close friends. Maybe you are taking your son fishing for the first time. Whatever the situation is, packing properly is going to be the number one thing to ensure that you are going to have the time of your life. Even the most avid of fisherman often times leave essential items at home. And, this is why it is more important than ever to sit down and make yourself a little list of the items that you need to bring along.

Of course, this doesn’t mean you want to pack like you are heading on a two-week vacation, you only want to bring along the essentials. So, what are the essential items that you need to bring along on your next fishing trip

Quality Rain Gear

Fishing is obviously an activity that takes place outdoors. While the weather can be completely unpredictable, you can always take the proper precautions. Investing in good quality rain gear can go a long way. Even if it doesn’t rain it might over some protection form the splash of the water. Invest in the highest-quality rain gear that you can afford. And, this doesn’t mean running out and buying a posh poncho. This means going all the way and getting waterproof pants, footwear, hats, and gloves. If you find yourself in a heavy downpour you will be more than glad you invested in these items. Not only will they offer protection, but also they will allow you to continue to fish comfortably if you so choose to do so.

Take advantage of Layering Pieces

If you find yourself in cooler climates it will be more important than ever to bring along the correct layering pieces. Being near the water alone will cause the temperature to drop a few degrees. If you are traveling by boat it will be even colder on the ride to your fishing spot. And, if you are heading off early in the morning this will only add to the temperature drop. You want to be smart about layering and choose items that can be removed in the event that it does heat up during the day. Polar fleece is always an excellent option as it comes available in a variety of thicknesses and weight. Bring along at least one pair of sweatpants and a fleece pullover

Bring Along Sunglasses And Sunscreen

Most fishermen automatically make the assumption that if the weather is going to be warm they simply don’t need to make any special preparations for attire. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Sure, you don’t have to worry about your clothes as much. Simply throwing on a pair of shorts and an old shirt will suffice, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t other essential clothing items that you want to include. If you are going to be fishing in a climate where the weather will be extremely warm, you will want to bring along sunglasses and sunscreen. Being out in the sun for eight hours or longer will not only give you sunburn, but it could be potentially harmful to your skin.

Make sure that you choose a sunscreen that offers at least an SPF 30 or higher rating. As far as sunglasses go there are a variety of different makes and models available that can offer sufficient protection. For fishing sunglasses comparison, you can check out the link above. Bring You Medications And First Aid Kit

Fishing oftentimes takes place in remote areas of the world. In fact, you might find yourself fishing in a spot that requires a one-mile hike or a twenty-minute boat ride. Whatever the situation is, this is far enough out that you want to be prepared for all possible emergency scenarios. Make sure that you pack away a little first aid kit and bring along all of your prescription medication if you take any.

Insect Repellent

Bugs can really ruin a good fishing trip. This is why you always need to have a small bottle of insect repellent. Sure, the stuff isn’t fragrance friendly, but it will be better than fighting with the insect nation. And, remember just a little bit can go a long way.

Pack A Light Lunch

You will probably eat a big breakfast before heading out, but if you plan on being out for more than four or fives hours, you are going to want to pack a light lunch. You don’t have to go all the way out and get a big cooler, but something as simple as a few cans of tuna or other canned food can go a long way. Also, don’t forget the water. Water will be imperative if you are going to be fishing in a humid climate.

Bring A Spare Rod And Reel

You probably already know that you need to bring along your trusty rod and reel, but it also never hurts to bring along a spare. You never know what is going to happen on the ride over or when you are out on the lake. You wouldn’t want to get to your spot and discover that you have to go back home just because your rod and reel malfunctioned or got broke on the ride over.
