SEVIIN Set to Showcase all-new GS Series Casting Reels at ICAST 2024

Built for greater power, smooth and simple operation, and uncompromising durability, SEVIIN expands its performance-focused GS Series with six all-new 150-size GS casting models – each combining premium components and innovative designs for maximum adjustability, satisfying feel, intuitive operation, and hallmark reliability.

“GS Series spinning reels debuted in January, setting the standard for this SEVIIN series that couples premium performance with exceptional mid-price value,” says Robert Woods, Product Manager for SEVIIN Reels. “Our first casting reels in the GS Series are designed to excel in freshwater power-fishing applications like heavier pitching and flipping and casting larger lures. Their larger 150 size allows for an upsized 95-mm carbon fiber handle and spool designs that excel in managing braided line sizes of 40 lbs. and greater.”

SEVIIN’s all-new GS Series of casting reels consists of six models in three available gear ratios – 6.6:1, 7.3:1, and 8.1:1 – with right-hand and left-hand retrieve configurations.

In addition to precision-engineered and tested durability and reliability – the hallmark of any SEVIIN reel – new GS Series casting reels have been painstakingly designed for maximum adjustability, resulting in extreme casting performance with the widest possible range of lines and lures.

“A dual magnetic and centrifugal braking system works in concert with GS’s premium Japanese spool bearings and precision spool-tensioner to offer anglers a dramatic range of adjustability for maximum casting distance and spool control in any conditions,” Woods says.

“Most importantly, we’ve designed the system to be very user-friendly and simple. The spool-tension knob and magnetic cast control dial provide adjustment in the same way many other casting reels do, including our highly popular GF Series casting reels.

But our new GS Series reels add a centrifugal brake, adding a third level of adjustment that excels at mitigating backlash at the beginning of the cast – especially when casting in intense winds or fishing closer targets, such as skipping docks and flipping bushes.

SEVIINs GS Centrifugal brake

The unique thing about GS’s centrifugal brake is there are no parts that can fall off and be lost during adjustment, and there are no fidgety, manual adjustments to be made. Simply open the hinged, attached side cover to expose the centrifugal brake dial and turn it to the desired setting between 0 and 4.

What GS really provides is three-phase casting adjustability with the fewest possible exposed moving parts. Step one is the spool-tension knob, step two is the centrifugal-brake dial, and step three yields fine tuning with the magnetic cast-control dial. All of this adds up to extreme casting performance in a simpler, worry-free package.”

GS casting reels also feature variable spool sizes for maximum performance with intended techniques. Whether bomb-casting a DT-10 on 10-lb. fluoro with the deep-spooled 6.6:1 GS or flipping heavy cover with 65-lb. braid on the shallow-spooled 8.1:1 model, anglers will appreciate how each of GS’s three different spool diameters are optimized for maximum performance and greater angler control in the most-common fishing applications associated with each retrieve ratio.

Other premium features on new GS Series casting reels include a rigid and lightweight one-piece aluminum frame, carbon fiber side plates, an upsized carbon fiber/stainless-steel drag stack with audible clicker, an aluminum drive gear for maximum longevity with exceptional feel, 9+1 stainless-steel bearings, a soft-touch ergonomic thumb bar, and 95mm carbon fiber handle with soft-touch paddle grips.

GS Series casting reels also look as great as they perform.

“As good as these GS reels feel to fish, they wouldn’t be a SEVIIN reel without standout aesthetics,” Woods says. “Our team spends countless hours obsessing over every detail of our reels, and that includes making decisions on ergonomics, finishes, and colors. Nobody should have to fish with an ugly reel. We take pride in making sure every SEVIIN reel has a quality fit, finish, and overall appearance that matches its performance.”
