LA GRANGE, Calif. – Sean Minderman of Green Acres, Wash. held fast to Day Two lead at the 2025 BAM Tournament Trail Bass Boat Technologies Super 60 season-opener at Lake Don Pedro increasing his total to 39.39, after closing Day One with 24.48, which included the event’s Big Bass of 12.92. Qualifying for the top-10 field cut, Minderman and the rest of the best will return on Championship Sunday to fish for the $50,000 grand prize presented by Lake Don Pedro, Chicken Ranch Casino Resort and Tackle Warehouse with Conservation Sponsor Fisherman’s Warehouse.
Traveling from the state of Washington, Minderman revealed he is relying extensively on map study to navigate this less-familiar foothill fishery.
“My research is Google Earth pro,” he said. “I’ve been watching the water level every day leading up to the tournament. I’m looking through the history on Google Earth to match the water level, trying to find a particular thing. I found a couple of areas –one with a lot of little bays to it and (a couple of creeks).”
Minderman is covering his areas predominantly with three specific presentations – a jig, a dropshot, and a four-inch Yamamoto Senko
“It is a small 3/8-ounce jig, with a Yamamoto Twin Tail on it,” he said. “I caught most of my fish yesterday on the dropshot and a lot of fish today. I’m drosphotting a little Japanese bait. It is something (the fish) haven’t really seen.”

With the resetting of weights on the final day, the grand prize comes down to a one-day derby with 10 contestants and Minderman has a plan.
“I’m going to tie on an Alabama rig tonight and if we do get into some wind, I am going to be throwing that or a spinnerbait or crankbait as well,” he said.
Gutierrez’ Concrete Strategy Holds Out
Red Bluff, Calif. pro Greg Gutierrez added another 15 keepers to his keeper count, qualifying the Frenzy Baits owner to fish on Championship Sunday. Strategizing quantity over quality paid off for Double G and his position at the forefront of the keeper count field didn’t appear to significantly impact the weight class of his catches as his biggest five of each day accumulated a two-day total of 31.49.
“The way it is now – I was burning big fish to get in (to the final day),” he said. “There are only so many of those fish up right now.”
Gutierrez focused on pre-spawners near bridges, and other concrete structure.
“There are some bigger fish around that stuff and they’re all staging,” he shared. “They’re ready to go. I knew I had to get at least 10, or 15 to be safe, and ended up with 17.”
Gutierrez continued the finesse approach that he spoke of for Day One to make the Day Three cut.
“I was throwing some down baits,” he added. “I have a custom dart head I’ve been working on (for Frenzy Baits). I did throw my new FFS Stroller Head and shakin’ a minnow in a few places and a Neko rig – a jig here and there and a couple of big Senko-type baits; but for the most part I had an IROD spinning rodd in my hand, with six-pound Gamma line, because it is really abrasion resistant and really strong.”
With potential weather changes looming, Gutierrez hopes for some cloud cover and wind for the final day of fishing.
“I did tie on a glide bait and went out looking in the afternoon and I saw the fish are rolling on the bait,” he concluded.
Fishing fans can tune in tomorrow to see how it all pays off.
Note: BAM Pro Tour anglers are ranked in Super 60 events by both the heaviest five fish limit (Weight) and numbers of scorable bass caught (Keepers).
First place is held by the angler with the five heaviest bass and second place is the highest keeper count. The standings then continue to alternate by weight/keepers.
Anglers ranked by weight on the leaderboard are denoted with an asterisk.
Anglers add to both of their Day One rankings on Day Two as an accumulated two-day total. Once both days are tallied, the field is cut to the top-10, all results are zero-ed out and the final 10 anglers fish for the five heaviest bass on Day Three to determine the champion.
