The great outdoors is where it’s at.
It can be very rewarding taking your children fishing. It’s a small thing that means oh so much in the child’s eyes. Most people have fond memories of when they were young, and dad took them fishing for a day, maybe to a local Lake in a rented row boat, or even fishing from the shore. Or when we went to spend a week with the grandparents and all the children wanted to do was go fishing every day in the Creeks that run through the property.
Grandpa even took everyone up the River one day to do some trout fishing! kids remember outings like that for the rest of their lives. there’s no replacing those kind of memories, so It make sense to make new memories with the kids now while you can.
I mean how much time do parents and their children really spend together? oh yeah they may eat meals together, or watch television, or Netflix together, Oh sure you’re around them often enough, but that’s not the same as the kind of bonding and togetherness that can happen when you get away from everybody and get out in the Great Outdoors. Everything seems a little more easygoing and relaxed, in any hurry about absolutely nothing.
Now just think of the challenges you could face together, how to rig the pole up, what types of a hooks or lures or are you going to use, maybe live bait. Where do we expect we might find the big fish at, what kind of fish might we expect to catch if we fish here, or maybe if we go to the other end by the shade trees, and inevitably you let the child make a lot of the decisions so they feel proud that he or she was able to direct your endeavors towards the profound outcome.
The fact of the matter is whether you live in the big city, or small town suburban area, or the rolling Urban Countryside there are likely plenty of places to fish that are not that far away. There’s always a lake nearby or a local pond or river or stream any of these places can yield fish, even and possibly expressively the water reclaim pond behind your local shopping mall. If you enjoy boating and have a boat that’s a real great way to get out with your child and do some real fishing and bonding. It’s nothing like being out on the water the moist Breeze in your nostrils, feeling free on the water. Even if there’s other people there you’re out on the water with your dad, and your fishing, and you’re cruising around telling other boaters about your catch, and laughing together about how their catch was kind of small. look at these awesome fish we have, yeah!
Or fish half a day and do a little tubing behind the boat, or maybe teach him how to water ski. These are the kind of fun days that make your childhood worth remembering. And if you’re not into boating and don’t have a boat, that might even be better for bonding with your children. You can plan shorter trips you can even plan 1 hour trip to fish a few water reclaim ponds.
I remember when I was young dad took myself and the two younger brothers fishing, what a great time we had. We went to the local Reservoir, and rented an old row boat. It had a cinder block tied to a rope for an anchor. Us kids were armed with Classic Zebco 202 rod&reel combo, just push the button and sling it, easy to use. dad has a spinning reel, too complicated for us kids. We spent today rowing around the lake, and fishing. We brought sandwiches for lunch. When Dad got tired of rowing, and he found out I could do it, i became the captain! The kids fished for panfish, while dad fished for bass, after he caught a few, he helped us catch some bass too! And then ended up fishing for panfish with us. We were glad he did. I’ll always remember that day, one of the three times we went fishing together. You can’t buy memories like that.
Something you could do that would jump start your child wanting to go fishing with you, get them a fishing watch when I was young I had a watch called fishing time. It told me when the best times were to go fishing. It tracks the moon phases, and the sun rise and set. It tells you the best time of the day to go fishing by the hour. The” it’s fishing time” watch may not be available, but places like Bass Pro Shops or Cabela’s have comparable products. No matter where you go or how you do it, if you put in a little effort to find out some information about where to go, and how to do it , you’ll catch fish. If you ask your kids to go fishing, they will. What could be better, so instead of watching them play video games all day, and play with their phones etc, do both of you a favor and take your kids fishing!

You Might have a guessed, I’m not a professional writer. I am creative, and I have the will to write, I write poems, greeting cards, and lately I’ve been learning persuasive direct response copy. I hope this article will help get people on the water, and help insure future generations of fishermen & women go fishing.
