WARM TEMPS SET THE STAGE FOR LAKE MOHAVE SUPER 60 SHOWDOWN
BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. – With daytime highs reaching the 90s, Lake Mohave is heating up just in time for the second stop of the Bass Boat Technologies BAM Super 60 Pro Tour. Sixty-nine of the West’s top bass anglers will go head-to-head in this three-day, high-stakes event, kicking off May 2 at Katherine’s Landing.
Among the field is Bryant Smith of Roseville, Calif., the reigning 2024 Lake Mohave U.S. Open Champion. Smith predicts quality fishing ahead:
“I think the fishing will be really, really good. If the weather stays stable, like it is supposed to, it will be pretty wide open.”

POST-SPAWN PATTERN IN PLAY
Although this event may catch the tail end of the spawn, most bass brought to the scales are expected to be in the post-spawn phase.
“I haven’t fished the lake this time of year; but I’ve been there in February and in the fall,” said Smith. “The water should be higher in May than the fall and that should put the shallow cover in play and the largemouth a player.”
STRATEGY & PREDICTIONS
Anglers can qualify for Championship Sunday by placing in the top 10 via either total weight or total number of legal keepers. Smith estimates it’ll take 20 pounds a day to make the cut, or potentially 15 bass per day for keeper count.
“For the final day, I think it will still take somewhere in the low 20s to win,” Smith added.
He anticipates finesse techniques like dropshots, Neko-rigs, and shakey heads to dominate due to Mohave’s ultra-clear water. However, wind or clouds may open the door for power fishing.
