Never miss a word on the water with Garmin Signal VHF marine radios

OLATHE, Kan. – Garmin, the world’s largest marine electronics manufacturer, has unveiled the Garmin Signal VHF 400 and VHF 220 all‑in‑one marine radios. These modern compact units are designed to help boaters stay connected and aware of their surroundings while on the water. Featuring a sleek, space‑saving design, the radios boast an industry‑first 3.5‑inch color touchscreen with edge‑to‑edge glass. The premium Signal VHF 400 enhances situational awareness with an integrated Class B AIS transponder that transmits vessel name, position, course, and speed to nearby AIS‑equipped vessels.
“When performance and reliability are of utmost importance, the new Garmin Signal VHF radios provide mariners with peace of mind on the water. With a compact, yet modern design, the all‑in‑one radios offer advanced software features to enable reliable offshore communication when boaters need it most.” – Susan Lyman, Garmin Vice President of Global Consumer Sales & Marketing
World‑Class Performance in a Compact Package
Garmin has packed its most forward‑thinking radio technology into one of the world’s smallest all‑in‑one marine radios. The Signal VHF series delivers dependable on‑water communication through a range of advanced features. Automated squelch and adaptive noise cancellation work together to filter out background engine, wave, and wind noise, ensuring crystal‑clear VHF audio whether you’re transmitting or receiving voice calls. The radio also automatically records up to three minutes of audio transmission from any active channel, and can record three different channels simultaneously. For captains who want to stay on top of activity, advanced watch modes allow listening to six channels at the same time for VHF activity.

When emergencies arise, the distress button uses Class D DSC to automatically send crucial information to help responders reach you quickly. Boaters can also make effortless DSC calls to nearby vessels directly from the AIS plotter screen. The included fist mic features a loud built‑in speaker (95 dBA at 0.5 meters) and adaptive background noise cancellation, and can be mounted in an optimal position away from the head unit for better audio clarity.
Installation is straightforward: the Garmin Signal VHF 400 transmits and receives VHF, DSC, and AIS communication through a single VHF antenna. It also comes with an integrated GPS antenna/receiver, built‑in advanced diagnostics tools, and support for both 12 and 24‑volt electrical systems.
Control from a Secondary Helm with the RM 100 Remote Station
For larger vessels with multiple steering stations, Garmin offers the Signal RM 100 remote station. This premium fixed‑mount head unit connects via the Garmin Marine Network, letting mariners control radio functions from a secondary helm or flybridge. An intercom feature enables communication between the remote station and networked head units. The RM 100 boasts the same modern edge‑to‑edge glass design and 3.5‑inch color display as the main radios, and includes a matching fist mic to complement any helm.
Seamless Integration and Smart Connectivity
Both Garmin Signal VHF radios integrate seamlessly with Garmin chartplotters through the NMEA 2000 network, Garmin Marine Network 1.0, and Garmin BlueNet. They also support connection to a compatible loudhailer for onboard announcements, an external speaker for VHF audio at a second location, and NMEA 2000 for AIS, DSC, GPS, and external heading sensor data. Captains can configure the radio, program the MMSI number, and receive over‑the‑air software updates using the ActiveCaptain smartphone app with built‑in Wi‑Fi connectivity.
Pricing and Availability
The Garmin Signal VHF 220 marine radio has a suggested retail price of $999.99, while the Signal RM 100 remote station is priced at $699.99. Both will be available for purchase on Garmin.com beginning June 1, 2026.
