LA GRANGE, Calif. – Both Day One leaders of the BAM Super 60 at Lake Don Pedro were unseated and a new pair of frontrunners surged ahead of the top-10 field cut for Championship Sunday. Mark Cobey of Woodland took the lead by weight with 33.63, and Christian Ostrander of Turlock took topspot by keeper count with a two-day total of 50 scorable bass.
Each of the California pros will blast off for the fourth and final stop of the 2026 season with the remaining top-10 qualifiers as all weights are reset to zero and the anglers compete in a one-day shootout. The pro with the biggest five-fish limit will claim a $50,000 top prize at the three-day event presented by the Don Pedro Recreation Agency, Tackle Warehouse and conservation sponsor Fisherman’s Warehouse.
Cobey Conquers Spoon Fish
Over the first two days on Pedro, Cobey was the only to break the 20-pound mark either day. With a 5.87 kicker, Cobey sacked up 20.60 on Day Two to add to his Day One 13.03 to earn his place on the leaderboard.
Among a field that claimed a tough bite, Cobey made it sound easy.
“It was all a spoon,” he said. “I was looking for mega schools, really. You’ll catch two-pounders in these schools and you’ll catch five pounders. You just got to keep em fired up.”
Side-scanning for fish, Cobey put his Lowrance to work.
“I was picking up a lot of towering schools. Even if you don’t see fish in the schools, there’s usually fish with it, if the bait is towering like that.”

Cobey fished areas off the main channel and had the bulk of his weight by 11 am.
“After the morning, it gets really slow for me,” he recalled. “It’s a transition from summer to fall so I was looking anywhere there was a large amount of bait.”
The Duh Humpback Spoon and the Jackall Counter Back spoon were his lures of choice.

“I had the Stealth Stixx Booty with the 1¼-ounce Humpback spoon, which Nichols now makes,” said Cobey. “It was Blade Runner. Rick Tietz designed it. I am running that on 14-pound Sufix, and the Flutter Spoon I’m running is Jackall’s. I am running that on a Pillager Stealth Stixx rod also. It’s on 20-pound fluoro.”
Cobey found the fish were striking on the wind-away and had modified some of his hooks by tying his own tinsel onto them. His history on Pedro has given him confidence and he is feeling good about the final day on the water.
“Twenty pounds is doable tomorrow,” he said. “I found some stuff, if they eat, we’ll have a bag. But like I said they’re finicky. We’ll see if we can roll on something good.”
Ostrander Owns The Keeper Count

Although he would rather hunt bigs, Ostrander was all over the quantity side of catching scorable bass with 23 on Day One and 27 on Day Two.
“I knew where a bunch of fish were from the pro-am, and gambled on if they were gonna be there,” he said. “I started on it yesterday and there was a million fish. There’s a bunch of shad and a bunch of largemouth.”

He credited a shad-colored four-inch Sakamata minnow on a VMC minnow head for all of them. He threw it on an NRX Ned Rig rod with a Vanquish 3000 reel.
With keeper count no longer a factor, Ostrander will shift his focus to quality over quantity for Day Three.
“I got some sneaky stuff, and the water level should be right,” he said. “I’m going to go run around. I can get ten pounds, or I can go catch 16. I’m pumped I made it to the final day. I’m going throw a couple different baits and run around some big fish holes. We will one-thousand percent be around some big ones tomorrow. I just got to get ‘em to eat. I’m ready. I’m ready to go now.”
Fishing fans can follow along live for scorable bass count at the BAM website.
Note: BAM Super 60 Pro Tour anglers are ranked in Pro Tour events by both the heaviest five fish limit (Weight) and numbers of scorable bass caught (Keepers).
First place is held by the angler with the five heaviest bass, and second place is the highest keeper count. The standings then continue to alternate by weight/keepers.
Anglers add to both of their Day One rankings on Day Two as an accumulated two-day total. Once both days are tallied, the field is cut to the top-10, all results are zero-ed out and the final 10 anglers fish for the five heaviest bass on Day Three to determine the champion.
