A Spinnerbait is an excellent bait for catching bass especially during the spring even better when you find one.
Here’s the adventure with mark Lassagne and Vince Hurtado
Fishing Lake Don Pedro in early May. We were running the bank tossing a Mega Bass Vision 110+1 jerkbait in ITO Natural landing a fish here and there when I got snagged. The snag, fortunately was on fishing line where I was able to grab the line and pull it in. Not wanting to leave the old line in the water I pulled it in and there at the end of the line was a Mega Bass spinnerbait (3/8 oz White Python) and appeared to be new – score a $13 spinnerbait for free.
Vince Hurtado says to me, that could be the ticket. We were in Vince’s boat, and I only brought a limited amount of tackle, no spinnerbaits. I tied it on and the first cast I got a bite, next cast I got a bite but didn’t land one yet, Vince looks at me and say yea right … sure you got bit.
The next cast I get one a little over 2lbs (in the boat) and then it was on where I landed about 20-25 fish for the day and had Vince was scrambling to find a similar spinnerbait.
Later in the day after not retying (you know what happened) I cast out and the line broke and the spinnerbait went flying, fortunately up on the bank. I made Vince beach the boat and was able to retrieve the bait then I proceeded to land nine more bass before we went in.
At the end of the day, we landed over 40 bass, the best five going about 13-14lbs most on the spinnerbait but the jerkbait bite was pretty good too.
