LAKEPORT, Calif. –  With an encore performance of a mega-bag of bass at the final Pro/Am stop for the 2024 BAM Tournament Trail at Clear Lake, Christian Ostrander stretched his lead to nearly 14-pounds over his nearest competitor by adding 32.48 to his first day’s limit of 35.65. The awe-striking accomplishment put Ostrander’s two-day total at 68.13. and sets up the Turlock, Calif. angler for the possibility of a three-digit tournament total for this fall time three-day Clear Lake bass blowout.

Each of Ostrander’s first two day’s limits were anchored by a kicker in the 10-pound class – a 10.93 for Day One and a 10.51 for Day Two. A three-peat of a “dirty 30” bag may come down to a third consecutive double-digit largemouth – a jaw-dropping feat. Sitting atop the leader for the top-10 field cut, Ostrander was taking a wait-and-see approach. “Saturday started out slow,” revealed Ostrander.

“I only caught six fish all day long,” Ostrander shared. “I caught two decent ones right off the bat that were four or 4 ¼ and then went like three hours with no fish. I rolled up on the juice, stuck a 10, stuck a 7 ½ and then nothing for a couple hours. Then caught a five pounder and ran around trying to find some water for Sunday.”

Ostrander plans to tackle Day Three, by throwing an LV, a crankbait, and a jig. Although he is already poised for the win, a third 32-pound-plus sack will push Ostrander into the Century Club, racking up over 100-pounds in a single three-day event.

Mark White Takes the Co-Angler Lead

Co-angler, Mark White of Napa, Calif. ended his Day one in 3rd place with 23.37; however, on Saturday, fishing with pro Steve Hoover, White added his own 30-bag, to the mix and that 31.50 boost bounced him right to the top of the leaderboard with a two-day total of 54.87.

“I had a good first day and today was even better,” said White.

His fishing success was attributed to “silent reaction”, and he targeted water as deep as 15-feet.

“I’ve been catching ‘em shallow and to the mid-range water,” he added. “A lot of them have been in that four- to 8-ft range.”

White plans to go out and do it again on Sunday
