Bass Fishing Success at Lake Guntersville

#1 The ANGLR Tour Stops at Guntersville and Hands You a Map to Success

Do you know how cloud coverage affects your ability to hook into some bucketmouths on Lake Guntersville? If not, we’re about to break it down for you!

I’m on the ANGLR Tour. It’s an EPIC 40 day fishing trip involving myself (Jacob Jesionek) and my buddy Alex Roahrig. We are collegiate Bass anglers, fish biologists, and vloggers. We are on the hunt to catch 35 Species while traveling over 10,000 Miles to some of the most popular fishing destinations in the country! Get the Bullseye

We recently stopped at some Bass Fishing mecca’s on the Tour. Here’s a behind the scenes exclusive on our stop at Lake Guntersville, AL.

We were getting bit in the AM, then it slowed. We’ve reviewed the data, and I am going to tell you what we’ve discovered were the keys to our success in the morning so you can replicate it when you visit this location.

How I Unlocked a Secret to Success in Guntersville

Cloud coverage was much higher in the morning. 95% of the fish caught that day were under a high density cloud coverage. We were ledge fishing and catching fish at the top of that ledge in the shallower region.

On my trip summary page you can see when the cloud coverage began to decrease, the fish catches in that shallower area decreased dramatically. When there was minimal cloud coverage the bite died completely on that shallow lip of the ledge.

Towards the end of the trip, the cloud coverage came back partially and we were able to put a few more fish in the boat. After analyzing the data, with the barometric pressure being stable, the wind speed change being minimal, it seems that the biggest condition change that happened was the cloud coverage.

The day in data

Here’s an overview a few of the key data points from this trip that I gathered using ANGLR and their new hands-free Bullseye:

  • Wind speed less than 1 mph up to 6 mph
  • Barometric pressure dropped from 1358 – 1355 mbar (Basically no change)
  • Cloud coverage had biggest impact.
  • Ledge and cloud coverage combo identified as code to success.

These two baits were the ticket for this trip!

Measure your fishing, Improve your fishing

Do you want to be able to unlock your own keys to success and find more fish by tracking your fishing data automatically? There is no other platform with more powerful, effortless tracking than ANGLR app combined with the Bullseye.

We also owe a big Thank You to Grant Labriola for taking us out on Lake Guntersville to help us unlock these keys to success! To see the whole Episode from our trip, check us out on
