RICHLAND, Wash. – Seventy of the West’s best bass anglers are set to collide on one of the Pacific Northwest’s premier smallmouth fisheries as the BAM Super 60 Pro Tour heads to the Columbia River. The Tri-Cities showdown will feature a $50,000 payout at the conclusion of the three-day event presented by the City of Kennewick, Tackle Warehouse and conservation sponsor Fisherman’s Warehouse.

Washington State local Jake Boomer of Spokane is familiar with the fishery and calls it his favorite place to fish. He expects the bite to be wide open.
Columbia River Summer Bass Patterns
“It is always good fishing,” said Boomer. “But because of the time of the year, the shallow guys can power fish whatever way they want – ChatterBaits, topwaters. And the deep guys are going to get to dropshot, Carolina rig, football heads. The fish will be all over the spectrum. It is super meat and potato fishing is what I would call it.”
Boomer’s deck will have a varied arsenal of presentations all tied to P-Line fishing line.
“I will always have a topwater,” he said. “I will always have a dropshot and I will always have some type of moving bait like a ChatterBait or a spinnerbait that I can cover water with.”
When asked what his single must-have lure would be for the event, Boomer quickly named a fluke, but it wasn’t the only one he gave a nod to.
“It probably has won the most money on the river than any other type of bait in history there – a Zoom Super Fluke,” he revealed.
Boomer pointed to a six-inch Mag Draft as his sleeper pick and called out a Hideup Coike.
“I’ve seen the power of the Coike, so I’m definitely going to be throwing one,” he said.
The standout color for Boomer is “Flesh Red.”
“It is kind of that white/pink, salmon smolt color,” he explained. “It is what they’re feeding on. I do like that color, but they are dumb smallmouth and they can eat anything. Sometimes they will even eat black.”
Boomer doesn’t suspect FFS to be a major factor.
“In this pool, the fish can get a lot more shallow and the ones that are offshore tend not to float around as much,” he said. “I would have forward-facing turned on, but I won’t be using it to hunt out fish.”
Weight Predictions
Regardless of whether a pro chases keeper count or heaviest bass, Boomer feels the numbers will be higher than the recent Boardman bass battle.
“I think there will be a larger winning weight than if we were fishing in the lower pool,” he said. “I think it will take 20-pounds a day to win it. And I wouldn’t feel comfortable with anything less than 20 on the last day.”
Boomer feels it will take 60 keepers total and at least 18-pounds a day to qualify for the final day of fishing with the top-10 Championship Sunday field cut. Although he anticipates the event to be won with smallmouth, he said he wouldn’t be surprised if it turned out to be largemouth.
“There are so many (largemouth) that live there, and even though they are not super easy to find, these guys are so good it could happen,” he added. “Like Luke Johns’ monster fish on a frog at Havasu. That’s so crazy – nothing could surprise me now.”
Note: BAM Super 60 Pro Tour anglers are ranked in Pro Tour events by both the heaviest five fish limit (Weight) and numbers of scorable bass caught (Keepers).
First place is held by the angler with the five heaviest bass and second place is the highest keeper count. The standings then continue to alternate by weight/keepers.
Anglers ranked by weight on the leaderboard are denoted with an asterisk.
Anglers add to both of their Day One rankings on Day Two as an accumulated two-day total. Once both days are tallied, the field is cut to the top-10, all results are zero-ed out and the final 10 anglers fish for the five heaviest bass on Day Three to determine the champion.

Seventy of the West’s top professional bass anglers will converge on the Columbia River for the third stop of the Bass Boast Technologies BAM Trail Super 60 Pro Tour. Presented by the City of Kennewick and Tackle Warehouse, this premier televised bass fishing event promises three days of intense competition as anglers battle the river smallmouth for a share of one of the richest payouts in Western bass fishing.
Launching from Columbia Point, the three-day event will showcase the west’s best anglers delivering extensive media exposure through the BAM Trail television series, live tournament broadcasts, social media, podcasts, websites, and Bass Angler Magazine’s print and digital platforms.
Hosted in partnership with the City of Kennewick, WA the event is expected to bring anglers and their families from across the Western United States to the Tri-Cities area, generating tourism and economic impact for local businesses.”
