BAM Pro Tour heads to Lake Almanor  May 31- June 2

BAM Pro Tour – Bass Boat Technologies Invitational Event at Lake Almanor presented by Lake Almanor Chamber of Commerce and Plumas County.

Gear up for an exciting fishing event at Lake Almanor! The BAM Tournament Trail is bringing the top western anglers to renowned waters known for exceptional smallmouth fishing.

Fishing Lake Almanor Now

Lake Almanor known for its robust smallmouth population.  Anglers can expect a good number of fish in the 2.5 to 3lb class where it could be a very tight race to the top ten.

The fish should be all three stages of the spawn where drop shotting, small swimbaits, jerkbaits, crankbaits, spinnerbaits and maybe some topwater will come into play.

Local Pro Tour angler Mark Pilgrim said areas where cold water is entering the lake like the North end – Feather River and the Hamilton Brach on the East side may have pre-spawn bass.  The swamp and west shore usually see the first spawn where anglers may find post spawn fish.

Look for large flats or islands with gravel and stumps – smallies spawn around stumps.  Note: Smallmouth generally shy away for rip-rap during the spawn.

Mark predicts it will take between 32 and 34 pounds to make the top ten and if the stars align an angler might catch 19 lbs on championship Sunday to win.
