INVERNESS, Fla. — Copperstate Tackle, the family-owned Arizona fishing retailer, is expanding east with its first Florida location in Inverness. The new store, located at 1522 U.S. 41 in the Inverness Regional Plaza, will officially open in early November with a Grand Opening Tail Gate Kick-Off celebration.
Beginning October 1, 2025, the space will be re-merchandised to reflect Copperstate’s signature brand and showroom design. In addition to in-store shopping, Florida anglers will now benefit from same-day shipping and next-day delivery statewide, giving them fast access to Copperstate’s wide selection of pro-shop-level tackle and gear.
The new location has long been home to 44 Tackle Co., a staple in Citrus County fishing. The storefront will officially close on September 21, 2025, as it transitions to Copperstate Tackle.
“We’re thrilled to join the Citrus County angling community,” said David Lewis, Owner/CEO, Copperstate Tackle. “Our team is focused on pro-shop-level knowledge and products, a vast selection, and community partnerships—bringing proven tackle for Florida waters, hands-on clinics, and year-round support for local clubs and youth programs to Inverness.”
Local angler and 44 Tackle Co. Owner Chris Kingree will continue serving the fishing community in a new role as Copperstate’s Florida brand ambassador.
“As someone who has lived in Citrus County my whole life, it has been an honor to serve this community under the 44 Tackle Co. banner,” said Kingree. “I’m excited to see Copperstate Tackle step into this space and bring their selection, service, and brand to Florida anglers. This next chapter feels like an evolution—the spirit of 44 Tackle Co. continues with even more to offer the fishing community. Copperstate shares the same family values and appreciation for customers that we built our business on. I look forward to supporting local anglers in my new role as a brand ambassador for Copperstate.”
While 44 Tackle Co. will close its retail storefront, Kingree will remain active in the industry through tournaments, media projects, and future ventures—all while supporting Copperstate’s launch in Florida.
