Yamamoto Signs Hammer Haraguchi

Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits will sponsor veteran co-angler Gary Haraguchi of California on the FLW Tour in 2016 as he travels the country with Yamamoto pro Jimmy Reese.

“At Yamamoto, we’re committed to sponsoring talented anglers at all levels of the sport,” said Ron Colby, GYCB VP of Operations. “Gary is someone who could expect to compete reasonably well from the front of the boat, but this is the path he’s taken. I’m sure that there are many co-anglers who wish he’d make the move so he’d stop taking their money.

Haraguchi has long been a threat from the back of the boat on both western and national circuits. He has finished in the top 10 in the Angler of the Year race in the Costa FLW Western Series five times, taking the crown in 2007. He’s won two FLW Series events – on the Columbia River in 2009 and the California Delta in 2010 – and has qualified for the Forrest Wood Cup on three occasions.

”Yamamoto lures have always been my choice as a result of their quality and high level of innovation,” Haraguchi said. “They give me everything I need to compete at a high level, and I use them all, from the Senko to the Heart Tail and everything in between.”

He’s been on a light diet this offseason, noting the Reese plans to hit every barbecue joint between California and Florida on their way to Lake Okeechobee, the tour’s first stop. Once there, he expects that a black and blue Senko and a goby-colored Heart Tail will give him an opportunity to make a charge at the amateur title.

Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits, based in Page, Arizona, makes tournament-tested fishing tackle that can be used effectively by novices and champion anglers alike. The company produces a wide range of products, most notably soft plastics baits such as the Hula Grub and the Senko, two first-of-their-kind lures which remain the standard-bearers for their categories today. GYCB has recently expanded its soft plastics lineup substantially and added a new lineup of hard baits. Look for new game-changing product developments in the near future.
