Wisconsin’s Frabill supports the 2011 Minnesota Governor’s Fishing Opener
Jackson, Wis. – (5/1/11) ‘Purple People Eaters’ lay down their arms. ‘Title Town’ tips its collective hat. Even legendary coaches Bud Grant and Vince Lombardi would have shared a boat and jovial jabs on a Minnesota ‘Opener.’ This year, trusted fishing gear manufacturer Frabill represents the other side of the river by offering its strong support of the 2011 Minnesota Governor’s Fishing Opener in Grand Rapids, Minn. the weekend of May 13-14.
It begins with Grand Rapids fishing icon and Frabill Pro Staff Scott Glorvigen being knighted as ‘the guide.’ “You better believe it – this is an honor, guiding Governor Mark Dayton,” said the renowned freshwater fishing expert and Grand Rapids resident. “I’ve got my eye on the weather and water temperatures, basically running through different fishing scenarios to put the Governor on some walleyes and really show him what this area has to offer.”
Frabill Pro Staff Tom Neustrom, another Grand Rapids fixture, is managing the guide and media pairings for the entire event. Neustrom more than qualifies given his legacy in guiding and membership in the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame. “I have many of Minnesota’s best fishing guides at my fingertips. It wasn’t hard putting together an all-star team of knowledgeable and professional guides to treat writers, editors, newscasters, and other attending media to a fantastic day of walleye fishing.”
Besides sending factory support staff, Frabill has also teamed with hometown sporting goods giant Gander MTN. to provide commemorative Minnesota Governor’s Fishing Opener aerated bait containers. Frabill Marketing Director Jeff “Kolo” Kolodzinski explains: “Gander MTN. represents a significant part of the retail sporting goods industry on a national level, and they’re as much a part of Minnesota fishing history as anyone. So we took one of our premium livebait care products and co-branded it with the hometown hero.
“Odds are it’ll be a ‘minnow bite,’ too, so the guides and media members are sure to have fresh and lively bait on hand. And if you fish for walleyes, you know that livebait – minnows, nightcrawlers and leeches – are fundamental to fishing success.”
Ruttger’s Sugar Lake Lodge is the host site for the 2011 Opener. Additional information about the event is available at the Explore Minnesota Governor’s Fishing Opener website.
