Woodbridge, VA – The local for non-profit Reel American Heroes Foundation announced today that they have reached an agreement to bring Lew’s Fishing Tackle of Springfield, MO aboard as an official sponsor. The company will be providing fishing equipment for many wounded Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Disabled Veterans that attend the foundation’s recreational events. The equipment supplied will include fishing rod and reel combos, allowing the veterans to continue to enjoy fishing as they please even after the event. The organization’s fishing events have been well-received and generated positive feedback over the last couple of years per the local community.
Each wounded warrior is invited to attend a local, two man team, bass tournament hosted by the Reel American Heroes Foundation where they will have an opportunity to fish with local bass anglers while competing for prizes and trophies. When the wounded warriors arrive, they register for the event, eat breakfast, receive a fishing rod and reel combo, a tackle box full of fishing gear, an event shirt and snacks and drinks for out on the water. Once they are ready they pair up with local bass anglers and head out on the water to fish in the bass tournament. After their day of fishing the teams return to the marina to weigh in their fish and then attend a BBQ lunch. During the BBQ the Reel American Heroes Foundation volunteers help prepare everything for the awards banquet. When lunch is finished the winners of the tournament are announced and the both the wounded warriors and the volunteer boaters receive their prizes and trophies.
