This past year I introduced my friend Fredrika Paulig from Vantaa, Finland to Bass fishing, Vantaa, Finland is just north of Helsinki. Paulig who now lives in Ormond Beach Florida took right to fishing.
In fact she loves it! We bass fish all the time launching out of Highland Fish Camp at least once a week. Four weeks ago Fredrika returned home for a month so our trips came to an end, but she returned back to the states last week & the first thing she said to me is, “Can we go bass fishing Tuesday morning out of Highland Fish Camp?”, with the biggest smile on her face.
Well needless to say on Tuesday June 25th 2013 we arrived there early in the morning about 6:00 am. We launched my little 14 ft. Jon boat & headed north for Lake Woodruff. It was just a beautiful day, the moon was high & bright up in the sky on the horizon & the sun was just coming up, beginning to peek through the tree line in the east.
We were fishing the weeds armed with 10” long Culprit red shad worms,(our weapon of choice when we do battle) and couldn’t do no wrong. We caught one fish after another. I had just caught & released a 5 pound 4 once bass. After hooting & hollering from that exciting fish figuring – what we assumed to be “THE” catch of the day.
Fredrika’s very next cast hooked her into a 9 pound 2 once bass. Make no mistakes I do not tie the hooks on her line for her, bait her hooks, cast the line out for her, etc… She is a regular Bass Assassin all by herself.
