Premium-quality American fishing rod manufacturer Cousins Tackle Corporation has joined forces with the Top Stick Tour, sponsoring this one-of-a-kind bass fishing tournament series that kicks off its 2014 season on January 25 at Castaic Lake, one of Southern Californiaʼs premiere trophy bass waters.

The Top Stick Tour is designed to bring low cost, high-quality bass fishing events to tournament anglers across Southern California. As part of this tourʼs unique format for 2014, the first 50 people who sign up for Top Stick membership will have their Bassmasters Team Championship entry included (an optional $10 thereafter) — including a subscription to BASS Times worth more than $20. This format will provide one team for every 50 participating two-man teams a chance to quality to fish the 2015 Bassmasters Classic — the worldʼs most  prestigious bass fishing event. One or more of the Top Stick teams will be sent to the Team Championship where they will fish against other teams from across the nation for a chance at a Classic berth. The top three teams from that event will be split into six single anglers and the winner will be invited to fish the 2015 Classic.

The Top Stick Tour was created to attract the best bass fishermen from the Southern California region and provide them with a series of competitive, challenging events close to home. “This is a great match for Cousins Tackle, as our series of premium quality, American-made bass rods is  designed to help the best bass anglers perform at an even higher level,” said Bill Buchanan, Cousins Tackle President. “Every Cousins bass rod is hand-crafted in our Huntington Beach, California factory by rod-building experts, using state-of-the-art  materials, the finest components and meticulous attention to detail. And at the heart of each Cousins bass rod is a blank developed with input from Californiaʼs best anglers, with actions fine-tuned for a variety of specific bass tackle and fishing techniques,” added Buchanan.

“We couldnʼt be happier to have Cousins join our family of prestigious sponsors,” said John Barron, Top Stick Tour President. “The Cousins bass rod line is truly impressive, from top to bottom. When you tour their factory, you immediately recognize that they understand the mindset of competitive bass fishermen, and their desire for ʻjust the right toolʼ for every fishing style. I was equally impressed with the size and scope of their operation — Cousins is clearly a solid company that is in it for the long haul,” added Barron.

The Cousins Tackle bass rod line includes dozens of spinning, casting and specialty models crafted from IM-8 and High Modulus graphite blanks to optimize angling performance — and make the worldʼs best bass fishermen even better. These rods are available exclusively through a growing network of authorized Cousins Tackle dealers across the country — including 16 premium tackle retailers in California (with more to come).
